Serre Chevalier Says “Reach New Heights” At High-altitude Area

All summer long, 8 ski lifts provide access to the high-altitude domain, offering breathtaking views and a wide range of thrilling activities: mountain biking, via ferrata, paragliding, zip-lining, mountain karting, and downhill scooters! For those seeking a more relaxed experience, numerous trails are accessible to hikers of all ages, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the stunning alpine scenery!
High-altitude area open from June 21 to August 31
Starting June 21, the bikepark will partially open with access via the Casse du Bœuf chairlift (Villeneuve sector).
From June 28, the Ratier gondola, Serre Chevalier cable car, and the Grand Serre and Combes chairlifts (Chantemerle sector) will provide access to high-altitude activities: race down the slopes on a mountain kart or downhill scooter, explore the mountain on an electric scooter, or soar through the air at nearly 100 km/h on the giant zip line!
The Prorel gondola (Prorel sector) and the Bachas chairlift (Monêtier sector) will open on July 5, and all sites will close on August 31 (subject to change).
Four lifts are accessible to people with disabilities: the Prorel gondola, Ratier gondola, and Serre Chevalier cable car offer wheelchair access, and the Casse du Bœuf chairlift is accessible with an all-terrain wheelchair.
Step-by-step adventure
What better way to enjoy the vast natural beauty of Serre Chevalier than by exploring its majestic valleys and surrounding mountains on foot? The hiking trail options across the Serre Chevalier area are vast and suitable for all levels.
Two orientation tables (located at the summits of Prorel and Serre Chevalier) allow you to identify all the surrounding peaks.
Along the trails, you might admire blooming rhododendrons as you pass through larch forests—these conifers are native to the Southern Alps—or spot marmots playing beside the paths, while butterflies flutter around and majestic birds of prey soar above, creating a truly breathtaking natural spectacle.
In the high-altitude area, you can also experience the thrill of via ferrata on two routes: the Neyzets Via Ferrata (Monêtier sector) and the Rocher Blanc Via Ferrata (Chantemerle sector) – guided supervision is highly recommended.

Discover the mountains with children
The Camp des Marmottes is a dedicated space for young mountain adventurers, accessible via the Ratier gondola (Chantemerle sector). This free-access area is a place where kids can run, climb, jump, fly, and play freely: wooden games, a mini zip line, balance workshops, and a hut with a climbing wall—everything is in place for a day full of adventure! The Camp des Marmottes is named after the area’s true residents: marmots! With the help of provided telescopes, kids and adults alike can spot and observe these iconic Alpine creatures and learn more about them.
From the Camp des Marmottes, head to the Sentier des Lutins (Elves' Trail), the perfect introduction to hiking: this easy 1.8 km trail is both fun and educational, with informative signs along the way.

An XXL Bike Park
The Serre Chevalier Bike Park offers a wide variety of trails suited to all levels and challenges, with 8 downhill tracks (1 green, 4 blue, 2 red, 1 black) and 7 enduro trails (2 blue, 2 red, 3 black), all accessible via the ski lifts.
Choose your ride: take it easy on the green and blue trails in the Chantemerle sector, enjoy some fun on the three specially designed play zones—MTB Découverte (Villeneuve), Enduro Pédagogik (Monêtier), and Rolling Zone (Monêtier), or test your skills on the more technical red and black routes.
New this summer: the Grand Serre Che’ route!
The Bike Park unveils a brand-new trail: Grand Serre Che, linking Briançon from the summit of Prorel all the way to Monêtier via various mountain passes, with a return loop through the valley. This complete loop around the Serre Chevalier domain is perfect for a day full of breathtaking views and thrilling adventure—accessible on a standard or electric mountain bike.
