Outdoor Research S24 Apparel, Gear Collection Transitions Away From Added PFAS

Outdoor Research’s Spring 2024 collection showcases sustainability, technology and inclusive sizing. It “aims at transitioning its products away from added per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a goal that the company expects to complete by the Spring 2024 product line.” Three pillars drove the brand’s focus for 2024:

  • Sustainability — Along with using more recycled and sustainably sourced materials in its products and phasing out using PFAS, OR outlined its climate-action goals earlier this year based on science-based target initiative guidance.
  • Technology — From new techniques, including Duraprint, a 3D printed resin structure that adds durability without weight or impeding flexibility in apparel, to sourcing fabrics that advance categories, as with the Shadow Hoodie, the Spring 2024 continues to show innovation.
  • Inclusive Sizing- Sizing ranging from XS to 4X Plus for Spring 2024.

For S24, OR transitioned its Foray II and Aspire II Rain Jacket and Pants to a C0 DWR treatment free of fluorinated materials with the face fabric made from recycled materials and bluesign-approved Gore-Tex Paclite technology. In addition, OR introduces the waterproof Stratoburst Jacket and Pants which are free from PFAS.

In softshells, OR’s Shadow Wind Hoodie 5-ounce protective layer uses a light, bluesign-approved stretch-woven material that moves with the body. The company also added the DuraPrint, a 3D-printed resin overlay, to the elbows and shoulders of the Ferrosi Hoodie softshell for added abrasion resistance in high-wear areas while slightly trimming weight.

Technical sportswear styles received upgrades. The Astroman collection now has added ventilation from small laser perforations under the arms and on the back panels, improved materials with recycled content and upgraded durability. The Vantage Crop Top and updated Leggings pair mesh bands for support with style. And the Essential Fleece Crew and Pullover Hoodie pair a brushed interior fabric with comfortable tops for everyday wear.

Outdoor Research also added other apparel in sizes from XS to 4X Plus to a broadened accessory collection to its lineup for Spring 2024.
