News From Xavier De Le Rue

Xavier de Le Rue (* 01. July 1979) from France is one of the most accomplished freeriders of our time. After winning the Freeride World Tour three years in a row he ventured out and made snowboard films in some of the most adventurous places of the world, such as the Antarctica. In his early career in 2008 he just barely survived a gigantic avalanche himself, which added to his extreme and almost superhuman image as a snowboarder.

In the past years however, his main efforts go towards educating mountain safety through films and seminars.

Invisible Ground Full Film Release

After tragic avalanche accidents, professional snowboarders Xavier De Le Rue and Elias Elhardt deeply questioned their motivation for the potentially life-threatening pursuit of freeriding, which they have dedicated themselves to.

During several days in the mountains together, they shared personal experiences of extreme risk taking and what being vulnerable actually means to them.

By questioning unrealistic ideas of control, Invisible Ground sets out to explore how to obtain a reasonable balance between the love for adventure and a misguided drive to expose oneself.

Xavier says;

"Last winter I spent a number of days in the mountains with Elias Elhardt, after both being close to tragic avalanche accidents we explored the darker side of snowboarding and the mountains. Elias has shared our explorations in his thoughtful film Invisible Grounds. Through the film we question our unrealistic ideas of control, extreme risk taking and the attempts to find a balance between the love for adventure and a misguided drive to push the limits."
