Uroš Zupan succeeds Franci Petek as Director of the Ski Association of Slovenia, Sayyed Abdi Eftekhari's presidency of Iranian Ski Federation ends and new Secretary General at Mongolian Ski Association.

Uroš Zupan succeeds Franci Petek as Director of the Ski Association of Slovenia

Uroš Zupan, a former Alpine Skier, follows in the footsteps of Franci Petek as the new director of the Ski Association of Slovenia (SZS). Zupan was nominated by president of the association, Enzo Smrekar and confirmed by the executive committee.

Zupan's career path in recent years has not taken him far from winter sports. He was the General Secretary of the Rogla Organising Committee, where he prepared the 2009 FIS World Cup cross-country skiing competitions, and for the last decade he worked at RTC Krvavec ski resort as an Assistant Director.

"I am convinced that Uroš Zupan will successfully continue and complete the financial rehabilitation of the SZS. Especially in light of the three largest international events we are organizing in the next three years: the FIS Ski Flying World Championships Planica 2020, the World Championships in biathlon in Pokljuka 2021 and the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2023 in Planica. With his knowledge of skiing issues and good leadership skills, he will be able to make a constructive contribution to the goals we have set for ourselves, " Smrekar said at the appointment.

Sayyed Abdi Eftekhari's presidency of Iranian Ski Federation ends

The presidential term of Mr. Sayyed Abdi Eftekhari's in the Iran Ski Federation has concluded and as he is retired, he is not eligible to stand for election anymore. FIS would like to thank him for the collaboration over the years.

The Iranian Sports Minister appointed Mr. Kourosh Sabourian as interim president to organising the upcoming election.

New Secretary General at Mongolian Ski Association

In Mongolia, Luvsandorj Munguntsetseg has been replaced with Bayaraa Gerelt-Od as Secretary General of the Mongolian Ski Association.
