Mario Stecher Appointed As New OSV Sports Director

After an intensive selection process, Mario Stecher will take over the position that has been vacant since April 2022. The decision was made after a hearing by the five-member staff committee, consisting of ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober, ÖSV finance officer Patrick Ortlieb, TSV President Karl Janovsky, VSV President Walter Hlebayna and ÖSV General Secretary Christian Scherer.

“In Mario Stecher we have a sports director who not only has in-depth specialist knowledge, but also has the passion and ambition to strengthen Austrian skiing and snowboarding sports internationally. In recent years, Mario has been able to celebrate extraordinary successes as the person responsible for the jumping and Nordic combined divisions together with his team and I am therefore confident that he will continue to make a significant contribution to the success story of our association in the future," says Roswitha Stadlober pleased with the choice of personnel.

Mario Stecher will take on this new task at the start of the 2024/25 season: “It is a great honor to hold this position and I will work with all my efforts to ensure that the ÖSV continues to be successful in the future. At the same time, I would also like to break new ground and continue the success story of the ÖSV together with the existing team. My focus in the next few weeks will be, on the one hand, on fulfilling my previous tasks and filling my current position accordingly and, on the other hand, I will also use the days and weeks to exchange ideas with my colleagues in the ÖSV.”

In the future, the sports director, together with the general secretary, will form the governing body of the ÖSV and will be primarily responsible for the direction and strategies of the individual disciplines. “We will work intensively together in the future and coordinate on various topics. Mario is responsible for the entire high-performance sport including technology in the ÖSV and I am confident that we will overcome the upcoming challenges together as a team to the delight of the Austrian ski family," said ÖSV General Secretary Christian Scherer .
