Major Wave Of Hotel Refurbishments To Take Place In Cortina d’Ampezzo,

In anticipation of the 2021 Ski World Championships to be held in Cortina, a wave of projects have been approved in order to upgrade the destination and its services, both on the mountain and in town. At the end of the current ski season a substantial number of hotels in Cortina d’Ampezzo will close for refurbishment projects and upgrades.

An important initiative of upgrades and improvements in the hotel sector will be launched at the completion of the current ski season. Some of the hotels that will start refurbishment projects this spring include the 3 star hotels Royal and Trieste with projects of room modernisation, whereas the 3 star Hotel Regina will modernise throughout the property, as will the 2 star Hotel Montana.

The legendary 4 star Hotel Poste in the very centre of Cortina’s Corso Italia will renew its bathrooms and add a spa. 3 star Hotel Columbia will add a spa and wellness centre. 4 star Hotel Cortina, exclusively positioned in Corso Italia, will also close for works this April.

Hotel Miriam, currently a 3 star property, will undergo a complete restructuring, and plans to re- open with a 4 star rating in time for the 2019-20 winter season.

The 4 star Superior graded Faloria Mountain Spa Resort, located in a splendid setting in Zuel near the Olympic ski jump, will reopen as a 5 star property after a project which will bring substantial improvements and new facilities, including a 25m long indoor swimming pool. The project will bring the number of 5 star hotels in Cortina to five, and its pool will be the first of this length in the Ampezzo Valley.

Further hotel projects have been approved, but are awaiting confirmation of a start date.

In addition to the hotel projects mentioned above, a number of urban regeneration projects are in the planning stage, including renovation of public spaces and buildings, underground car park schemes and the construction of a brand new public swimming pool and wellness centre.

In May the much anticipated new indoor climbing hall will open, situated near the Cortina Country
Club and Tennis Club.

These initiatives represent an important step forward for the legendary alpine destination of Cortina d’Ampezzo, exclusively positioned in the spectacular UNESCO World Natural Heritage Dolomites.
