Les Gets Launches Its 2025 Summer Programme With A Focus On Cycling And Mountain Biking

The mountain resort of Les Gets, perched at 1172 metres on a sunny alpine pass, is a vast outdoor playground with two sides – Mont Chery and Les Chavannes. Both offer hikers and mountain bikers easy access to incredible terrain with breathtaking views of Mont Blanc.

Whilst mountain biking and hiking are the most popular activities, those less inclined towards sport will discover a refreshing and relaxing escape in the village and beyond.

With 60 restaurants, bars, tearooms, a cinema, bowling alley and library, there’s also plenty to do off the mountain, including access to four wellness centres and two gyms.

The bike park is the largest in Europe, with over 128km’s of trails for all levels. In 2024, the resort recorded over half-a-million lift rides for mountain bikers. Riders can also access the vast Portes du Soleil network of mountain bike trails that stretch across into Switzerland. There’s marked lift-accessed downhill trails as well as marked cross country, enduro and e-bike routes.

In 2025, the bike festival Pass’Portes du Soleil, will be based in Les Gets. Running over three days (June 27-29), participants of all skill levels can enjoy guided rides, competitions and bike testing, alongside music and other festivities that will take place in the village.

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup also returns to Les Gets (August 28-31), with XCC Cross-Country, DHI Downhill and XCO Olympic Cross-Country, showcasing the best elite mountain bikers in the world over three adrenaline fuelled days in what has become a classic WC venue on the world tour.

Alambike, a charity mountain biking event, will host its 5th edition (June 21-22), with a new 6 hour time trail race and solo or team 24 hour competition, as well as youth and balance bike events. The DH Kids cup (July 5-6) is a downhill MTB event for younger riders aged 7 to 14 and Les Gets Bike Week (July 21-27) is a chance for riders of all levels to try different cycling disciplines in a fun environment.

For hikers, the new Planetary Trail offers two options (5.7 km and 8.9 km) that embark on an adventure through the solar system. Faithfully represented to human scale at a one-billionth of their actual size, the planets are laid out around a tall metal structure that symbolises the sun – all with incredible views of Mont Blanc and the other surrounding mountains.

Michel Rostalski, also known locally as The Plant Man, launches a new gourmet trail in search of wild flora that thrives around Les Gets (despite declining overall in France). Plants such as the Yellow Gentian, alpine spinach and St John’s Wort are found alongside the many small fruits used in local mountain tarts.

With the Les Gets Golf Club celebrating 30 years on Saturday September 6, there’s a chance for golfers to experience this unique mountain course that challenges every skill in the game. The course was recently awarded the Silver Golf for Biodiversity label, recognising the club’s efforts to protect local biodiversity and sustainability.

Whilst in Les Gets, be sure not to miss some of its unique attractions such as the Alta Lumina Night Walk, The Museum of Mechanical Music and the four season luge.

Les Gets offers a complete mountain holiday for the active and those who wish to relax in this classic alpine setting just one hour’s drive from Geneva Airport.

The mountain resort of Les Gets can be reached in approximately 1 hour by car from Geneva Airport and is located in the northern French Alps. It’s linked with 12 other resorts in the Portes Du Soleil region that total 293 ski runs and 189 lifts during the winter.

Les Gets is regarded as one of the top mountain biking destinations in the world, with Europe's largest bike park that includes over 128 KMs of marked trails for all levels and regularly hosts the downhill and XCO (Cross Country Olympic) editions of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. The Mountain Bike World Championships took place in the resort in 2022.

Road cyclists will find the mountain passes, often used during the Tour de France, a genuine challenge and local rides include the famous Col de Joux Plane, and Col de Ramaz.

In the village, there’s a number of hotels ranging from 4* to 2* as well as numerous chalets and apartments. There’s a total of 60 restaurants, on and off the mountain.
