Laax Holds Clean-Up Day 2025

Laax has held it's Clean-Up Day 2025 – together for a clean mountain landscape

Last year's Clean-Up Day, which had been canceled due to excessive snow in the higher elevations, was finally able to take place again this year. The Clean-Up Day around LAAX brought together dedicated volunteers to set a visible example of respectful interaction with nature.

113 people collected trash for a day, although the number was deliberately limited compared to previous years. Not due to a lack of motivation, but out of consideration for the sensitive mountain meadows. Because too many helping hands, even with good intentions, can also cause damage.

At 9:00 a.m. sharp, the participants met in front of the Piazza at the rocksresort. There, everyone received their lunch bags, gloves, and garbage bags and was divided into two groups: One group took the cable car up to Crap Sogn Gion, while the other was taken directly to Nagens by shuttle.

From there, smaller teams set off on different routes:

  • Around the Crap Sogn Gion at the halfpipes and in the snow park
  • From Crap towards Curnius or Plaun
  • Around Nagens
  • From Nagens towards Plaun

Result: 600 kg of waste

60 brimming 35-liter bags containing a total of 600 kg of waste were collected. Among them were ski poles, a snowboard with only one binding, PET bottles, gloves, countless cigarette butts, and a noticeable amount of snus tobacco pouches.

Overall, less waste was collected than in previous years, possibly due to the less stormy winter – or perhaps to ongoing awareness-raising efforts as part of the Greenstyle program.

Strengthening at the end

After the work was done, a well-deserved meal awaited everyone at the rocksresort: grilled sausages, crispy vegetable skewers, crusty bread, and cold drinks. A communal gathering that perfectly rounded off the day.

Laax says "thanks to all the helping hands who keep our mountain clean – see you next year!"
