La Rosiere, What’s New From The Family Friendly Ski Resort

Located in the Haute Tarentaise Valley, at 1,850m, La Rosière gets exceptional snowfall (more than 11m in 2018) but also sunshine as the resort is fully south facing. It is an excellent resort for children to learn to ski and improve their skills. The resort also offers many fun activities for families.

NEW!  X-TREME LUGE
La Rosière has a new multi-season single-rail sledge – like a mountain roller coaster! The 1000m downhill circuit is made up of sharp gradient drops, an overpass, a spiral, downhill speeds can reach 45km/h. € 7 per descent – lift included. € 1 for children measuring between 90cm and 1.25m (must be accompanied by an adult). The lift up is done by sledge, through the woods.

CLIMBING WALL  
Opened last winter, it has 5 anchors, 2 of which with an automatic belay. The 15 routes available under the supervision of La Rosière professionals were created by Chloé Minoret, European climbing champion. Climbing wall 20 €/pers. for a 2h session. From 7 years old, materials provided.

LA ROSIERE’S ICE RINK  
400m² of ice to learn to skate in safety. Patrick (coach of Les Tigres Blancs, La Rosière’s ice hockey team, manager of the ice rink and qualified ice skating instructor) organises ice skating lessons (from 4 years old) and ice hockey taster sessions (from 9 years old) throughout the season.

THE SNAKEGLISS  
Whether with friends or family, join the ESF to speed down the pistes in these rather alternative type of sledges. They are assembled together to form a snake and are guided by an instructor (maximum 11 sledges per each snake of sledges). The better place : the tail of the snake for a bigger thrill. Starting at 4.30pm by taking the last chairlift up. Minimum age: 10 years old. Equipment: lift pass (skier or pedestrian), helmet, snow boots and ski clothes recommended.

PARET
The Paret is a small sledge made of wood with a single runner and was used as a mean of transport at the beginning of the 20th century by the school children in the mountains. Take the last lift of the day and sledge down on a Paret at sunset with Evolution 2.
It costs €12 per person and children aged 10 and over can do it. Mulled wine is served to the parents on arrival!

SKIING
BEGINNERS AREAS  
La Rosière has 2 free lifts for beginners: a drag lift in the center and the “tapis des Lutins” moving ski carpet (in the les Eucherts area). Access to these lifts are free to help initiate skiers to the snow at their own pace and in a specially dedicated zone. For the really little ones, the ski carpet “le tapis des Lutins” will transport them effortlessly and confidently to the top of a green slope so they can familiarise themselves with the sliding movements on the snow… Next, they can progress to the Dahu drag lift and then onto the many blue slopes. To reassure the parents, all the chair lifts in La Rosière are equipped with a system that prevents children slipping under the safety bar!

IMPROVE WHILST HAVING FUN SLIDING FEELING
Petit Saint-Bernard adventure trail: A fun and educational slope through the forest for budding skiers. Suitable for 1 Star level and above. Starting at the top of the Lièvre Blanc drag lift, follow the resort mascot, the Saint-Bernard dog! With sections designed with fun in mind, through tunnels, bells and turns amongst the trees, the forest green slope is an area both educational and playful for aspiring skiers..
Petit Saint-Bernard Funcross, a 1000m adventure trail piste allowing adults and teenagers to try new experiences on the snow. The Saint-Bernard dog themed decent has plenty of fun modules, tunnels, gongs and more to enjoy.

SKI SCHOOLS
THE GALOPINS CLUB
The Club des Galopins is committed to giving kids an unforgettable holiday and to safely familiarise them with the mountain environment, the snow, skiing, sledging and snow shoeing along with other children. From 3 to 13 years old, they are looked after with or without ski lessons and for the really little ones, from 18 months upwards they are looked after in the baby club , all for either a full day or half. Now the parents can make the most of their holiday.

THE PANDA COURSE
From the age of 3, children can safely learn to ski in small groups. The lessons are 2.5 hours and give them the time to progress on the snow at their own pace. The PANDA course is for beginner children from 3 years upwards. During these 6 days they will make their first steps on the snow, get to grips with their balance, practice side slipping and learn the snow plough
Mornings from 9am to 11.30am or afternoons from 2.30pm to 5pm from Sunday to Friday: from €190. Full days from 9am to 11.30am and from 2.30pm to 5pm, from Sunday to Friday: €380  + €29 for included lunch from 11.30am to 2.30pm
