The Kitzbühel cable car starts the 2020/21 winter season on December 24th. "Never before have the longing and desire for exercise in nature been so great," says Dr. Klaus Winkler, Mayor of Kitzbühel and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bergbahn Kitzbühel. “This winter will be different than usual. We use all possibilities that are available to us. This endeavor is important to maintain economic vitality and to maintain the trust that our guests and partners have in us. "
Get to know KitzSki
At the start, KitzSki will be operating more than 40 lifts between the Hahnenkamm and Resterkogel. "Everyone who is interested in our multi-award-winning ski area will have the ideal opportunity to get to know KitzSki even better during the Christmas holidays," emphasizes Anton Bodner, CEO of Bergbahn Kitzbühel. “Our guests will experience an unprecedented feeling of freedom on our slopes. There will hardly be any waiting times. There is also a wide range of options for winter hikers, cross-country skiers, toboggan fans and ski tourers, ”says Anton Bodner.
KitzSki is also reacting to the special situation this winter when it comes to prices. Until January 10th, 2021 adults can get a day ticket for € 44.50. Teens pay in this
Period only € 30.00 / day ticket and children only € 20.00 / day ticket. "We recommend our guests to buy their lift tickets in advance in our online shop at shop.kitzski.at."
Safe from the parking lot to the slopes
In order to ensure the safety of guests and employees, KitzSki has put together an extensive package of measures. Erectors, loudspeaker announcements and specially trained staff remind guests to keep their distance and to wear mouth and nose protection - this is mandatory in the public areas, in the entrances and exits and in the cable cars. The gondolas are only used to half the permitted capacity. The gondolas are regularly disinfected with cold fogging and the cabins of the Horngipfelbahn are disinfected with UV-C light.
Around 35 sanitary facilities are available throughout the entire ski area. They are signposted accordingly, are located in the area of selected cable cars (valley and / and mountain station) or in mountain restaurants. Catering on the mountain is not legally possible until January 7, 2021, take-away solutions are offered.
New 3S winter hiking trail, cross-country skiing trails and piste ski tours
With the new 3S winter hiking trail, KitzSki is responding to the trend that more and more people want to actively use winter away from the slopes. "The new 3S winter hiking trail leads from the mountain station of the Wagstättbahn to the mountain station of the 3S-Bahn on the Wurzhöhe", explains Mag. Christian Wörister, CEO of Bergbahn Kitzbühel. Walter Astl, CEO of Bergbahn Kitzbühel, confirms that such an investment is necessary for the economic success of the mountain railway. “The demand for alternative winter offers such as cross-country skiing and piste ski touring is increasing. That is why it is important to create the right infrastructure for our guests, ”says Walter Astl.
For cross-country skiers, KitzSki has the high-altitude trails on the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Resterkogel in its program. There is also news for ski tourers this winter. KitzSki participates in the piste ski touring initiative of the state of Tyrol with three routes. The three KitzSki piste ski tours are signposted separately. "On these routes, ski tourers can be sure that they are on approved trails," says Mag. Christian Wörister.
