Former Athletes New Media Coordinators For Austrian Ski Federation

Two former athletes, Snowboarder Manuela Riegler and Cross-Country skier Sophie Schimpl are new additions to the Austrian Ski Federation’s media team.  

While the two-time snowboard overall FIS World Cup winner and 2005 FIS World Champion Riegler will take care of the Alpine ladies, 24-year-old Schimpl will be responsible for the Cross-country team, starting in an all-important season with the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 taking place in Seefeld (AUT).

44-year-old Riegler, who worked in the PR business in the past few years, replaces Christoph Malzer who had held the position with the Alpine Ladies’ team since 2010. “I know the athletes’ side, the Austrian Ski Federation and the contact to media”, Riegler said. “I think I can profit from these experiences and look forward to this exciting position.”
