Fellhorn Summit Lift Reopens After An Extensive Overhaul. Total Investment Of 1.1 Million Euros,

Since Saturday, July 18, 2020, it has been possible again: The summit lift takes hikers high on the Fellhorn. From the outside you can see no change in the lift, but deep down the lift has experienced a rejuvenation and has been transferred from the analog to the digital age. After an extensive overhaul with a total investment of 1.1 million euros, the train is once again running at 1,967 meters.
In 1972,, the "Fellhorn Lift", was built that runs up the mountain from the Stillach valley. Its top station is at 1,967 metres. There is also a lift connection to the Kanzelwandbahn. The cross-border Fellhorn/Kanzelwand Ski Region has 24 kilometres of slopes and 14 lifts
"The renewal of the railway was elementary in order to meet the current state of the art and thus continue to guarantee the highest level of safety for our guests," explains Johannes Krieg, Managing Director of Fellhornbahn GmbH. The control, brake systems and drives (main drive and emergency drive) were at the center of the conversion work.
“In the past, four different companies were involved in the technology, of which there are no longer two today. This presented us with challenges in terms of support and the availability of spare parts. With Garaventa AG we are now relying on a reliable partner with the best quality and many years of experience, ”says Johannes Krieg and adds: "Together with the cable car control systems of the specialized Frey AG Stans - which is also part of the Doppelmayr / Garaventa Group - we now have a digitally controlled cable car with the most modern system and the best technology available." - and operational safety raised to a new level - since monitoring visualizations take place in real time, which ensure smooth operation.
This means that promising moments in  the 2-country region OBERSTDORF • KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN are guaranteed for hikers. Functional and operational safety are raised to a new level - because monitoring visualizations take place in real time, which ensure smooth operation.
