Doppelmayr Canada Announces Major Expansion Of Headquarters

Doppelmayr Canada is excited to announce the expansion of its headquarters in Saint- Jérôme, Québec. Over the next 18 months, the ropeway expert will build a new facility including office, production and warehousing spaces, securing and creating new jobs in the region. This expansion is in response to the high demand in the ropeway industry and represents a significant commitment towards customers and employees.
As ski resorts across Canada and USA continue to invest in state-of-the-art infrastructure to enhance guest experience, including new ropeways, the facility expansion positions Doppelmayr Canada to better meet the growing demands of the thriving North American ropeway market. The new facility, set to nearly double the size of the current building, will feature approximately 120,000 square feet of indoor production, service and warehouse space, 31,000 square feet of covered outdoor space, and a 34,000 square foot office and training facility. The new building will be located next to the existing building originally established in 1978.
This historic milestone for Doppelmayr shows the company’s commitment to strengthen its North American position. The investment will allow Doppelmayr Canada to improve manufacturing while accommodating a rapidly growing workforce. Gerhard Gassner, Doppelmayr Group Managing Director, explains: “Our employees do an outstanding job completing all our ropeways on time and to the highest standards. However, due to growing market volume, the new building has become essential to continue meeting these expectations.”
Luc Guy, CEO of Doppelmayr Canada, adds: “The current facility has been expanded many times over 45 years, but we are now looking into the future of ropeway business, considering material flow, efficiency and employee satisfaction. The new facility will be a state-of-the art manufacturing facility where we will continue to design and produce the highest quality ropeway systems in North America. We are excited to expand our production capabilities and our workforce and continue Doppelmayr’s legacy of building ropeways in Saint-Jérôme. This expansion is the result of our long-standing partnership with our customers along with the dedication of all our employees for more than 45 years. We are thankful to Invest Quebec and Canada Economic Development in participating and securing the financing of this major investment”.
With this investment, Doppelmayr looks forward to leading the ropeway market for years to come and is proud to expand on its successes in the North American market. Architecture and engineering designs for the new facility are currently being finalized. Construction is anticipated to start at the end of May, with the target to be producing out of the new facility by last quarter of 2026.
Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) has granted Doppelmayr Canada a repayable financial contribution of $3M.
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for CED: “Businesses are at the heart of community development. We help them invest in equipment and devices that will improve their performance, which is why I am delighted with CED’s support for Doppelmayr Canada’s project. We are here to assist workers and Quebec and Canadian SMEs by giving them the means to equip themselves with what they need so that, together, we can rebuild a stronger, more resilient, more sustainable economy.”
