Decisions Of FIS Council At Autumn Meeting 2022

The FIS Council held its Fall meeting on Saturday 22nd October in Soelden (AUT) and dealt with a full agenda, including items such as reports from Organising Committees of the FIS World Championships and Olympic Winter Games, the appointment of technical officials and proposals from the FIS Technical Committees.

The main decisions of the Council meeting are as follows:

Russia and Belarus Participation at FIS Events

The FIS Council decided, with due regard to the integrity of FIS competitions and for the safety of all participants, and in line with IOC recommendations, to continue its policy to not allow Russian and Belarusian teams and athletes, to participate in all FIS competitions.

Future Olympic Winter Games and FIS World Championships Updates

Reports were received from the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Cortina-Milano (ITA) and the Winter Youth Olympic Games 2024 in Gangwon (KOR). Reports were also received from the hosts of the future FIS World Championships who have been elected through 2027. Additionally, reports were given about the preparations for all assigned FIS Junior World Championships. All the above-mentioned FIS World Championships are proceeding according to plan.

Calendars

The FIS Council approved all calendars for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

Technical Committees

All updates to the International Competition Rules (ICR) proposed by the FIS Technical Committees were approved. A more detailed summary of the proposals from the committees was published following the Autumn meetings on the FIS website under each discipline.

Para Snow Sports Update

Work to integrate Para Snow Sports for the upcoming season is progressing well. The calendar has been established, the World Cup and World Championship qualification criteria has been set in addition to the classification criteria. The FIS International Competition Rules (ICR) have been updated to include the Para disciplines, where applicable.

Honorary Committee Members

The below individuals were granted Honorary Committee Member status by the FIS Council for their long-term dedication to FIS and its disciplines:

• Joe Fitzgerald, Sub-Committee Freestyle Skiing

FIS Congress

The next Congress will be the 54th International Ski Congress will take place on 25th May 2023 online, as per the FIS Statutes. As previously decided, the 55th International Ski congress will take place in Spring 2024 in Reykjavik (ISL).

The 56th International Ski Congress will take place online in Spring 2025. The Council will vote on the host of the 57th International Ski Congress 2026 at a later date.
