Camber Outdoors Pitchfest Finalist Wins Big At Bend Outdoor Worx Breakout

Camber Outdoors Pitchfest 2018 finalist, Heather’s Choice, a lightweight backpacking food producer based in Anchorage, Alaska, was named the winner of the Ready-To-Roll Award resulting in a $10,000 cash grant prize during the Bend Outdoor Worx (BOW) BreakOut event on Oct. 17 in Bend, Ore.

BOW, an Oregon outdoor industry accelerator, established BreakOut as the only funding event created solely for the outdoor product industry which serves early and growth stage outdoor companies. Heather’s Choice competed against two other finalists chosen from 40 applicants.

Heather’s Choice crafts healthy and delicious dehydrated backcountry meals and snacks using high quality and sustainably sourced ingredients. Our products are meticulously crafted to be lightweight and nutrient-dense to keep outdoor enthusiasts fueled on long expeditions without adding significant weight to their packs.

“We couldn’t be happier with our experience here in Bend,” said Heather Kelly, founder and CEO of Heather’s Choice. “The Bend Outdoor Worx community has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. We look forward to getting to work with these folks a lot more in the future. This event wouldn’t have been on our radar if not for the suggestion from the Camber Outdoors community.”

In July 2018, Heather’s Choice joined six other companies to participate in Camber Outdoors’ 4th annual Pitchfest in front of an audience of more than 350 industry leaders, influencers, and funders.

“Heather’s Choice pitch garnered distribution from REI Co-op,” said Deanne Buck, executive director of Camber Outdoors. “We were excited to see them as a BOW finalist, and eventual winner. BOW has a history of commitment to excellence and entrepreneurship in the outdoor industry and we appreciate their partnership with Camber Outdoors’ and the recognition of diversity of experience to drive innovation.”
