Breckenridge: Peak 7 Lift Project Approved

Breckenridge: Peak 7 Lift Project decision

USDA Forest Service Dillon Ranger District, White River National Forest Summit County, Colorado
Breckenridge Ski Resort (BSR) has proposed to construct an additional lift on Peak 7 of BSR’s existing special use permit (SUP) area. The proposed project is consistent with goals and objectives identified in BSR’s 2007 Master Development Plan (MDP) and is specifically referenced in a subsequent amendment that was accepted by the White River National Forest (WRNF) on March 15, 2019.
Based on project scoping and the analysis conducted, it is thedecision to authorize the construction of an additional lift on Peak 7 between the Independence SuperChair and the Zendo Chair. The approved lift will reduce wait times at the Independence SuperChair and reduce skier traffic on the busy Monte Cristo trail by eliminating the need for guests travelling from Peak 6 towards Peak 8 to ski down to the bottom of Peak 7. This lift will also improve access to underutilized intermediate terrain by providing an alternative way to access the north side of Peak 7 for repeat skiing.
