Breckenridge And Keystone, Summit County’s Largest Ski Resorts, Now Open For The Season

Breckenridge Ski Resort and Keystone Resort, the two largest ski resorts in Summit County, are both open for the 2017-2018 winter season. Early risers flocked to both resorts for Opening Day and were treated to a bluebird day for the first turns of the season. Breck and Keystone will remain open daily through April, and skiers and snowboarders can visit Breckenridge.com and KeystoneResort.com for conditions and terrain updates, events and activities throughout the season.

Keystone began the season with the debut of a new six-passenger Montezuma Express chairlift. Located on Dercum Mountain and serving popular beginner and intermediate terrain, this was one of two capital improvement projects completed over the summer at Keystone. The resort also renovated and expanded Labonte’s Smokehouse BBQ with a new, 190-seat indoor facility for the on-mountain dining venue that will open this winter.

Other upcoming capital improvements include a new six-passenger chairlift at Breck. The Falcon SuperChair on Peak 10 was replaced with a new high-speed, six-passenger lift, offering an easier and faster ride up the mountain. Peak 10 is a popular area for advanced skiers and snowboarders providing access to fun and challenging terrain, easily accessed from the Peak 9 base area. If that’s not a sweet enough treat, Breckenridge’s Ten Mile Station is going “Willy Wonka” this season, adding a “Candy Corner” offering an array of chocolates and sweets, and Pioneer Crossing is adding sweet and savory crepes to its breakfast lineup this winter.

Both resorts will be continuing the celebration through the first month of the season, offering skiers and riders plenty of fun to begin the season and get back to snow.

Keystone will be hosting a social media contest with a variety of great prizes up for grabs. The #BackToSnow Bucket List contains a variety of fun adventures at Keystone, including riding the new Montezuma Express, skiing or snowboarding 10,000 vertical feet and mountaintop snow tubing, to name a few. Knock off at least 10 of the 30 items during the first 30 days of the season to enter the contest. For more information, visit KeystoneResort.com.

Breck is kicking off the first 30 days of its season by celebrating this year’s “firsts” – like the first run down a favorite trail, the first après session at the TBar, and many others! Guests at Breck can show off their snow firsts by sharing photos to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using hashtag #First30. Breck will be featuring ‘firsts’ on their blog and also awarding out four $100 VRR gift cards to the best #First30 participants.
