Bluebird Backcountry Welcomes Scott Leigh As GM & COO

Scott Leigh will become general manager and chief operating officer of Bluebird Backcountry, effective August 1, 2022. Leigh is a ski industry veteran of

20-plus years with a track record of surpassing EBITDA and revenue goals, developing successful company-wide strategies and nurturing meaningful relationships with key stakeholders in the local and regional markets.

“I'm impressed with Scott’s team focus, entrepreneurial hustle and his practical experience,” said Bluebird co-founder Jeff Woodward. “His extensive background in the ski industry along with his passion for community will translate well into our organization.”

Leigh began his career within the ski industry as a rental tech at Vail Ski Resort before working his way into a regional manager position at Specialty Sports Venture, then later served as regional director of both Western Slope and Summit County regions for Vail Resorts. Most recently, Leigh was the general manager at Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin.

“Bluebird and its team has something special happening on the snow, and I’m looking forward to supporting their mission of reviving the soul of skiing and improving accessibility to the backcountry for skiers and riders of all abilities,“ said Leigh. “I can already feel the welcoming culture of Bluebird and am very impressed with the team and volunteers.”

Leigh’s focus for the 2022/2023 season is to drive company growth efforts, including new revenue initiatives and operational initiatives, at Bluebird’s current location at Bear Mountain.

Bluebird Backcountry also named a new marketing director, Tiona Eversole. Eversole started as marketing manager for Bluebird in January 2022. She previously served as marketing manager for Purgatory Resort and Hesperus Ski Area before accepting her role with Bluebird Backcountry.

Bluebird Backcountry is a human-powered backcountry ski area located between the towns of Kremmling and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It’s operated by dedicated backcountry skiers and snowboarders who have three goals: increase access, improve education, and create a soulful gathering place for the backcountry skiing community.
