Australia New Zealand Cup Series Wraps Up

ollowing heavy snowfall over the weekend, the 2018 Australia New Zealand Cup (ANC) series wrapped up at Mt Hutt with two super-G races for both genders.

Alice Robinson of New Zealand claimed victory in both of the ladies’ races and was followed in both by her fellow countrywomen Alexandra Hull and Georgia Bushell in second and third, respectively. Robinson claimed the ANC ladies’ super-G title, the New Zealand national championship super-G title, and the ANC ladies’ overall title for 2018 with her results. The 16-year-old gains starting rights in World Cup slalom, giant slalom, and super-G races for the 2018/19 season.

In the first men’s super-G, Maarten Meiners of the Netherlands took a respectful 0.46-second win over Austrian Christian Borgnaes. Willis Feast of New Zealand rounded out the podium in third. Meiners and Borgnaes repeated their positions in the second race, but Switzerland’s Daniele Sette edged Feasey off the podium for a third-place finish. Meiners won the ANC men’s super-G title with Feasey securing World Cup starting rights in the discipline as the top skier from the host continent.

Adam Zampa of Slovakia, who did not compete in the speed races, claimed his career-fourth ANC men’s overall title. Adam Barwood of New Zealand, who finished sixth in the standings and competed in the super-G races, receives World Cup starting rights in slalom, giant slalom, and super-G for the upcoming 2018/19 season.
