Audi Quattro Winter Games NZ - Week 1 Review

It has been an epic first week of competition at the Audi quattro Winter Games NZ. The FIS Junior Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships 2018 has seen some amazing young athletes pulling out big tricks on the Big Air Jump and Slopestyle course at Cardrona Alpine Resort. The Ski and Snowboard Cross events had plenty of thrills and spills and were a real crowd pleaser. While the Alpine Ski racers have been clocking up some blistering times down the Giant Slalom and Slalom courses at Coronet Peak in the FIS Australia New Zealand Cups. The world-class curlers in Naseby have been showing their best moves at the Mixed Doubles Curling Tournament, ending in an epic battle between Scotland and Canada, with Canada taking the crown last night!

Watch out next week for The North Face Frontier, our Freeride event with both 2* and 4* events providing Big Mountain athletes the opportunity to gain valuable Freeride World Qualifying Tour points. These events are held at The Remarkables Ski Area in Queenstown and weather dependent so keep an eye out for updates on our social channels and website. Over at Snow Farm the Cross-Country Skiing will kick off on Tuesday, so go on up to watch these amazing athletes show off their immense fitness and endurance.

The FIS Junior Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships carries on with the impressive Halfpipe events and finishes with the Snowboard Parallel Slalom and Giant Slalom races.

The NZ Ice Blacks and the Australian Mighty Roos will battle it out in a three test Ice Hockey Trans-Tasman Challenge, which will have everyone on the edge of their seats on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Ice Arena in Queenstown. Buy your tickets here now! 

And they  finish off the Games with the 'piste' de resistance: the FIS Freeski and Snowboard Big Air World Cup at Cardrona, where the world's best will go head to head on that formidable Big Air jump. Come up and watch from Wednesday onwards...
