Arapahoe Basin Opening

Arapahoe Basin has announced today 23rd October as opening day. They say:

"Arapahoe Basin does not set a date ahead of time. We start making snow as soon as we can and then open for skiing and riding as soon as we can.

"We hope you will join us to celebrate, ski yourself back into shape, and re-ignite your winter stoke!
P.S. We prefer to call it the "white ribbon of joy."

WHAT IS OPENING DAY LIKE?

Awesome. It's a party! We hand out donuts in the lift line, launch our 6th Alley Bar & Grill Mug Club (first-come, first-served), and enjoy spreading the stoke. A-Basin's opening day means that Colorado's longest ski and ride season is underway (October - June). It also means we are back doing what we love in the place we most love to do it.

We open with one lift (Black Mountain Express) + one run (High Noon). High Noon is an intermediate run.

Opening day is NOT a beginner experience. Early-season snow conditions are unique and not suitable for first-time skiers/riders. Our easiest on-mountain runs take a few additional weeks to get open.

HOW TO GET LIFT TICKETS

Online and in advance! We do not sell lift tickets on-site. The earlier you buy, the more you save. Weekdays are cheaper than weekends. Please pre-purchase lift tickets before arriving, as we cannot guarantee day-of tickets and do not sell them on site. A-Basin limits the sale of lift tickets each day to manage crowds and provide a better overall ski and ride experience for all guests.

JOIN THE A-BASIN MUG CLUB

Show up. Line up. If you want a limited-edition A-Basin "Legendary for a Reason" glass mug in which to enjoy drink discounts all season, you better be in line at the 6th Alley, early in the morning on opening day. Mugs are first-come, first-served. Bring stickers to decorate it!

If you had a mug last year, check your email for the renewal link or give us a call. If you didn’t renew by EOD October 19, you missed your chance!

WHERE TO EAT ON OPENING DAY

Limited menus will be available at two restaurants. Come try our award-winning bacon bloody Mary! You may also bring a brown-bag lunch and enjoy that on the 2nd floor of the A-Frame building.

  • 6th Alley Bar & Grill in the base area (opens at 8 AM on weekends; 9 AM weekdays. Open until 5 PM)
  • Black Mountain Lodge at mid-mountain (lunch daily, 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM)
  • Legends Cafe in the base area (breakfast daily, 7:15 to 10:30 AM)

WHAT ELSE IS OPEN?

Arapahoe Sports will be fully stocked with A-Basin gear, goggles, helmets, gloves, and tons of cool stuff. When you spend $100 in person or online during our first week of winter-season operations, you get a free A-Basin history book!

Our tune shop and rental shop will be open. If you need a tune, drop your equipment in the rental shop.
Lessons start in November. Be sure to book those online in advance!

WHEN DOES MORE TERRAIN OPEN?

As soon as our snowmaking team and Mother Nature provide more snow, we can provide more terrain. Ramrod (another intermediate run) is likely second to open. There are no set dates for additional runs/areas. Our easiest on-mountain terrain does not open for several weeks.

Only one of your Basin Cards will be active at any one time. You get one free re-print. After that, a new Basin Card will be $5 each time. Please help us reduce waste!

If this is your first time with an A-Basin pass product or it's been a while (you didn't get one last year) ---We did not mail any pass or pack products.
