All You Need Is Less - New From Ortovox In Winter 2018/19

Mountains are much more than an overwhelming  obstacle  of snow and ice. They are our home, our place of belonging and our inspiration that leads us to new adventures. But only with the right equipment, enough respect and knowledge of risks can we be safe on the mountains. That’s why ORTOVOX is concentrating on the essentials for the 18/19 winter season:  protection. comfort. light weight. The naked sheep line is striking a new path with new materials, innovative compositions and thoughtful features!

Naked sheep is now part of avalanche emergency equipment  – and here too ortovox is combining light- ness with best possible protection. Over the years, ortovox’s constant innovations have helped to shape avalanche shovels and set new standards. The new pro light shovel has been developed to be extremely light, compact and yet extremely sturdy. The avalanche backpacks have received strong reinforcements with the avabag ascent 40 and 38 s for long ski excursions lasting several  days.

With the zebru jacket, ortovox has reached a whole dimension in insulation: a new processing technique makes  swisswool® lining lighter, more compact and more elastic than ever. The naked sheep line will also get brand new ski touring apparel  from extremely technical underwear to lightweight and highly functional third layers to get skinny the ski-touring sheep  ready for new adventures.

The naked sheep is at the focus of the new ortovox 18/19  collection. It’s not about speed  records, competitions or painful fasting diets. Instead, the naked sheep is looking for pure pleasure: this comes from products  that are just as light as they are functional and provide protection and pleasure– in storms, snow and sunshine.

AVALANCHE SHOVELS: LIGHT AND STURDY

Over the years, ortovox’s constant innovations have helped to shape  and develop avalanche shovels. The new pro light shovel has been developed to be extremely light, compact and functional.

They  guarantee ideal weight (440g) with high-quality materials, modern production processes and notches in the shovel blade and on the handle – without reducing rigidity.

AVABAG ASCENT  40: THE AVALANCHE BACKPACK FOR LONG TOURS

Developed for demanding skiing excursions and tours lasting several  days: ortovox is completing the avabag ski touring range with the new ascent 40/38 s avabag! And even this larger version reflects total emphasis on safety. This technical avalanche airbag backpack for ski tours and excursions lasting several  days is perfectly suited to the extremely lightweight avabag system, and at 40 liters with three inner pockets, it certainly provides enough storage space!

SWISSWOOL TEC STRETCH: ALL YOU NEED IS LESS

With less weight and great insulation, the zebru jacket represents a new kind of lightness. Thanks to a new processing technique  for the lightweight 70g/m²

Swisswool lining, we have managed to take our insulating material  to a whole new level: the specially developed material  composition and special production technology give the lining elasticity. Elastic, breathable, wind-resistant tec stretch is used as outer material. This combination results in an incomparable weight-to-insulation ratio with maximum freedom of movement.

TOFANA JACKET:A DIET FOR THE SHEEP

Thanks to fine merino fibers, our tofana jacket from the thin softshell  line stands for a symbiosis of light weight, unbelievable  breathability  and comfort. The merino wool on the inside is woven into a relief structure in order to reduce weight even further. Scuff-resistant polyamide on the outside provides protects against  wind and weather.  The athletic cut and 2-way stretch material  allow for maximum freedom of movement. This line is there- fore perfect for the ambitious ski-touring sheep!

120 MERINO COMPETITION LIGHT:BODY MAPPING  FOR ALL THE WORLD’S NAKED SHEEP

The 120 merino competition line provides optimum climate comfort even when the going gets tough, and is therefore the perfect base layer for high-performance sport! Thanks to an almost seamless circular knitting technique, different material  strengths can be integrated into different body zones. The main zones are made from fine 120 g/m² merino, and breathable mesh structures are used in spots that get more heated.

A high proportion of merino (70%) and the fineness  of the tasmanian wool fibers are particularly unusual  and guarantee itch-free comfort.

ORTOVOX WOOL PROMISE

Since 1988,  ortovox clothing has been all about wool. After more than two years of talks with wool farmers, suppliers and producers, in 2017

Ortovox initiated our own wool standard: the ortovox wool promise (OWP). Based upon the responsible  wool standard (rws), the owp takes an even more extensive approach.  In order to meet the company’s de- mands, the owp will focus upon animal welfare, farm and land management, as well as slaughter and transport. More than 60 indicators  will be checked annually on the farms by a certified, independent auditor. In future, a certified traceability system  will also guarantee that only the wool from our selected farms ends up in ortovox products.
