Pfänderbahn AG Issues Annual Report 2024/2025

The 2025/2026 fiscal year began well due to the postponement of Easter to April and fantastic weather leading to over 70,000 journeys, a frequency the Pfänderbahn had never experienced before. In May, the German Father's Day weekend was as busy as peak season. May 2025 is the third-best May on record, slightly surpassed only by the previous year and May 2018. June also performed very well.

Compared to the previous year, visitors fell by 9.31%, from 818,357 to 742,204. Revenue from passenger transport fell by 1.42%, from €4,562,558.74 to €4,497,821.36. Revenue from the parking lot, parking garage, and bus parking lot increased by 37.04%, from €280,345.57 to €384,188.46. Revenue from the seminar room fell by 31.78%, from €19,873.65 to €13,557.83.

The Pfänderbahn is an aerial cable car in Bregenz in the Austrian province of Vorarlberg . It connects the valley station at 419  m above sea level with the 1,022 m high mountain station near the Pfänderspitze . It is the only cable car in the Pfänder range .

The elevation difference of 603 meters is overcome over a distance of 2,063 meters using a two-track aerial tramway. The inclined section covers approximately 1,980 meters, and the horizontal length is approximately 80 meters. The track gauge is reduced to 2.5 meters in the stations, but at support column 1 it is ten meters. With an average gradient of 31%, the cabins move at a speed of up to twelve meters per second . The journey time is approximately six minutes; if necessary, 80 people can be transported every ten minutes.

The gondolas are powered from the mountain station by two 500 kW DC electric motors. The cable car is powered by two separate power supplies. An emergency generator and batteries are also available. Communication between the valley and mountain stations, as well as cars 1 and 2, is achieved by inductive transmission via the traction cable.
