6th General Meeting Of Swiss Cable Car Museum Association Held

The 6th General Assembly of the association "Seilbahn Museum Schweiz Kandersteg" (VSMS) took note of the reports of the Board of Directors for the 2024 financial year, which was not entirely without turbulence, held in the premises of the Seilbahn Museum.
Following the resignations of the president and a member of the museum commission during the year, the association's governing bodies had to be reorganized and the workload redistributed. Vice President A. Zenger (Hasliberg) took over the association's management on an interim basis. Finding people willing to volunteer for the VSMS proved to be a difficult undertaking.
The 2024 annual financial statements show additional expenses of CHF 3,750. It has been confirmed that income from membership fees and donations cannot keep pace with the costs of further expanding the museum. To ensure the implementation of the interior and exterior projects, the provision of additional financial resources is a key focus of the board's work. The association continues to seek out exhibits that complement the existing collection.
Inside, the focus was on visitor information, and trials for a digital solution were initiated; the project will continue in 2025. Outside, with external support, the museum's intended eye-catcher was realized with the installation of a cabin from the Stalden Staldenried cable car and a railway carriage from the Chäserrugg-Bahn Unterwasser-Iltios.
The assembly elected the President of the Museum Commission, Remy Supersaxo (Spiez), and Jacques Isler (Kandersteg), to the Board, as well as Sarah Roth-Loat (Kandersteg) as the new auditor. Vice President Andreas Zenger will continue to lead the association on an interim basis in 2025. Gaps in the Museum Commission have not yet been filled. The Board and the Commission are therefore considering whether merging the two bodies could reduce staffing requirements and simplify and accelerate processes.
The meeting concluded with a "cable car raclette" in the museum's premises. The 2026 General Assembly will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Grindelwald Pfingstegg cable car cabin in the Cable Car Museum
The Cable Car Museum has once again acquired an interesting exhibit. The management of the Grindelwald-Pfingstegg cable car has generously loaned one of the two original cabins to the museum. Decorated with flower boxes and cowbells, the much-photographed cabin will likely become an excellent attraction in front of the museum entrance.
We thank the crew at the Pfingsteggbahn for providing us with this exhibit, even after practically cleaning the cabin to a shine. In the meantime, they have added original new cabins to their ride. We wish the Pfingsteggbahn much success with the new cabins. We hope our museum visitors enjoy the newly exhibited cabins.
