Summer Operations Return To Mt. Hood Meadows June 27

Warming temps, melting snows, gushing waterfalls, and wildflowers starting to pop up are all signs that summer is close at hand at Mt. Hood Meadows, as the resort looks to open for Summer Operations one week from today.
Meadows will kick off another season of hiking, scenic chair rides, live music, RV camping, special events, and a whole lot more starting June 27, running through Labor Day (Sept. 1). The resort will be open Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays from 10 AM - 5 PM and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 AM to 6 PM, and later during some special evening events.
"Whether you're new to Mt. Hood Meadows or are a returning winter guest, summer is an amazing time to visit," says Greg Pack, President and GM. "The natural beauty of our permit area is truly breathtaking, offering incredible hiking opportunities and safe, ample parking. We look forward to welcoming everyone back very soon."
What's New for Summer 2025:
Many of Meadows' classic events and activities are returning for 2025, but the resort has a couple of new things in store too:
- Summer Trail Challenge: Occurring throughout the entirety of Summer Operations is the Summer Trail Challenge, where you can win awesome prizes and get great discounts simply by hiking at Meadows. Prizes awarded for most days hiked at the resort, most elevation gained, and fastest time to the top of Wizard Way. Just download the Strava app and use it to track your adventure in order to win. Even if you don't hit any of those achievements, you'll still be entered into a raffle just for participating
- Wildflower Weekend Aug. 2 & 3: Join Meadows for peak wildflower season in the Mt. Hood National Forest and attend their first-ever Wildflower Weekend. They'll have fun activities for the whole family, including face painting, hair sparking, guided hikes, and paint your own wildflower shirt
- Dog-centered event: While they are still working out the details, Meadows plans on having a dog-centered event back at Meadows again – similar to the Mutts on the Mountain event from a few years ago. It will be happening Aug. 16 from 11 AM - 3 PM and will serve as a fundraiser for Hood River Adopt A Dog, featuring dog hikes, a raffle, and more. Watch their events page for updates
Special Events Calendar:
- Wildcraft Experiences, July 19 & 26 and Aug. 9: Go on a guided hike and learn about the culinary and medicinal uses of native plants from local expert Jesse Eaton
- Dark Sky Camping, July 24 & Aug. 22: Meadows will be turning off the lights so you can camp under the stars in their main parking lot in your self-contained RV
- Hood Hundred, July 26 & 27: For the second year in a row, Daybreak Racing will hold their 100-mile trail race at Meadows. Registration is full, but visit their website to get on their waitlist
- Movies on the Deck, Aug. 1 & 22: Grab a blanket and a comfy chair and settle in for outdoor movies on the deck at dusk. This summer's lineup will feature FernGully: The Last Rainforest on Aug. 1 and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on Aug. 22
- Wy'east Trailfest, Aug. 9 & 10: While the Hood Hundred is full, there is still room in Daybreak Racing's Wy'east Trailfest, which consists of several race length options, including a kids race
- Mushroom Hunt Series, Aug. 17, 24, & 31: Enjoy a guided hike with local mushroom expert Jason Roberts as you learn about how to find and identify mushrooms on Mt. Hood. Please note that this is a hike for educational purposes, not active foraging
- Summer Brew Fest, Aug. 23: Hang out on the deck, listen to live music, and sample beers from Portland and the Gorge. Buffet add-on option available
- Music on the Deck series: Meadows will have live music on the deck every Saturday afternoon throughout the summer, featuring a diverse lineup of local artists. Shows are free to attend
Offerings:
- Hiking: Meadows has an extensive network of trails with a variety of difficulty levels and terrain. Enjoy waterfalls, scenic alpine overlooks, and jaw-dropping displays of wildflowers that will provide plenty of photo ops. Trails can be accessed for free, but they also have guided hikes available for purchase so you can get the most out of your trip to the mountain
- Scenic chair rides: A great way to take in the views and get easier access to the higher-elevation trails. Also a fun experience for those who have never ridden a chairlift before, or even if you have (after all, how often do you get to download a lift in the winter?). Don't forget: if you bought a pass for the upcoming winter 2025-26 season, you get free scenic chair rides for Summer 2025
- Summer Daycare Camps: Meadows has four-day summer camps running into late August that are available for kids ages 0-11. Activities include hikes, scenic chair rides, STEM and art projects, and a mix of free and structured playtime. Drop-in daycare is also available. Enjoy the resort's free wifi and work remotely while your child is in daycare, and/or go enjoy a hike or a relaxing day on the deck
- Overnight RV Camping: While other campgrounds are fully booked months in advance, Meadows has plenty of space in their main parking lot for you and your self-contained RV. Overnight RV Camping is offered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings during their Summer Operations. Step right out the front door of your RV and start your hike at Meadows, or use the resort as a basecamp for your other Mt. Hood and/or Columbia River Gorge adventures
- Food and drinks: Stop by the Paradise Grill after your hike for a snack, meal, and/or a frosty beverage. Check out their revamped menu for Summer 2025
- Games on the deck: Play Jenga, cornhole, and more while enjoying a beautiful view of Mt. Hood from their deck
- Retail: Visit their retail shop in the main lodge (near the Paradise Grill) for Meadows gear, stickers, drinkware, and other items that make great souvenir gifts for yourself or loved ones
- Weddings: Summer is a fantastic time to get married on the mountain and Meadows offers an all-inclusive experience, including gorgeous venues, custom seasonal menus, and recreational opportunities. Just a 90-minute drive from PDX airport
