As wellness travel continues to increase globally, Val d’Isère, infamous for its beautiful mountainscape and year round offering, emerges as the premier destination for a wellness-focused summer retreat. With reinvigorated spa experiences, scenic walking and hiking trails, yoga and pilates classes and world-class accommodation, the resort provides the perfect base for a relaxing, nature filled holiday.

Passes are valid for various lengths of time on activities across the mountain, bike park, central sports park and the aqua leisure complex including the necessary equipment to participate.  Various Val Passes are available including one day for 32, six days for 99 then 72 for additional passes, or a season ticket for 310.

Spa Retreats

Val d’Isère itself is home to an impressive selection of five-star hotels, each boasting their own beautiful spas and wellbeing offerings. One of the town’s most luxurious havens is Le Refuge de Solaise, perched at an altitude of 2,551 metres with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountainscape. The hotel has placed wellbeing at its heart with its dedicated wellness area, complete with unparalleled facilities such as a Nordic Bath, Hamman, semi-Olympic swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and an outdoor massage bubble. New for this year, the hotel has launched the ‘Shenkosha’ Retreat, a revolutionary method of detox and regeneration based on principles derived from the ancestral wisdom of Chinese and Indian medicine, combined with modern science.  Available to book for three or five nights, guests will be led by experts, Yoan Maillot and Hannaa Ingar to take part in specialised treatments, enzyme-based meal plans to detox the body, themed workshops, individual coaching sessions and Qi Gong - an ancient energy healing practice.

Visitors can also head to the Spa at one of the resort's luxury spots, Hôtel Le Blizzard, which boasts an incredible spa and outdoor pool. The Spa exclusively uses products from the esteemed skincare brand, Clarins, for rejuvenating massages and facials, alongside a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. In addition, visitors can take part in daily yoga or Pilates classes - perfect for a relaxing morning in the mountains, or head to the heated outdoor pool which looks out over breathtaking panoramic views.

Wellbeing through Nature

For those who want to make the most of Val d’Isère’s scenic landscape, the resort offers an extensive trail network, with routes ranging from gentle village strolls to the farm, to challenging high‑altitude treks in the Vanoise National Park. Those seeking the ultimate adventure, can embark on the Grand Paradis Vanoise Nature Trek, which takes walkers into the wilderness of the Vanoise and Grand Paradis National Parks. This cross-border journey into Italy is an ancient route for travellers, showcasing the heritage and beautiful landscapes of both protected regions with gorges, waterfalls, forests and authentic hamlets. The Val d’Isère team have put together a variety of itineraries suiting different levels of difficulty, making this route as accessible as possible.

Guided and themed hikes are also available for visitors to take part in, and those looking to learn more about their surroundings can join enthusiastic mountain walker Franck Bortolotti on his nature walks. Visitors can learn about wild plants, and the workings of a high-altitude forest, as well as how to reconnect with one's senses and explore mindfulness. Franck also hosts an eco hike every Sunday; this educational walk shows visitors around the village and national park, teaching them about how to preserve the landscape, whilst collecting any waste found along the way.
