VIP Ski Highlights The Work Of Tony Foster, Their 'Artist In Residence'

There’s something quietly distinctive about a VIP SKI chalet. Of course, the hot tubs, the firelight, the understated luxury all help set the tone, but it’s the walls that leave a lasting impression. No mass-produced prints or off-the-shelf mountain clichés, but bold, characterful canvases that seem to belong.
They’re all the work of Kent based artist Tony Foster, a painter and muralist who’s been collaborating with VIP SKI for over a decade. Foster’s style ranges from vivid, abstract explosions of colour to gentler, more contemplative takes on Alpine scenes. Every canvas is painted to suit a specific space. They don’t just hang on the walls; they are part of the room. Guests often ask about them. Some even try to buy them.
Now, with the launch of VIP SKI’s new property this December, (reveal to come soon). Foster is taking his long-standing relationship with VIP SKI a step further. This summer, he’ll be heading to the Alps for a month-long residency, living in the mountains that shape his work. The plan is simple: no distractions, no shortcuts with time to absorb the light, the landscape, and the rhythm of life at altitude.
It’s a big project. Around 250 original woks will be created for the new property, each one imagined and painted for its exact spot. Early sketches show sweeping ridgelines, moments of stillness, and the suggestion of creatures just out of sight.
But it’s in December, when the first guests arrive, that it will all come into focus.Because this isn’t art to be admired in a white walled gallery, instead it’s art to live alongside. Guests will notice it on their way to breakfast, catch a different detail each evening, and remember it long after the snow melts. VIP SKI blog link here
