Successful Year For Brunni-Bahnen AG

Brunni-Bahnen AG can look back on a record year with sustainable growth and targeted investments. Thanks to strong winter months and high first admissions, it was possible to invest in infrastructure, solar systems and a new economy building. The profit of around CHF 240,000 once again enables a dividend distribution and strengthens the position of Brunni as a year-round destination.

Brunni-Bahnen AG closes the financial year 2024/2025 with a profit of CHF 242,900 and can show an EBITDA of TCHF 2,069. The net income across all departments is a pleasing TCHF 8'962. The fixed assets after depreciation of TCHF 1'719 now amount to CHF 16.8 million and the shareholders can again expect a payment of CHF 25.00 per share.

"We thus look back on the best financial year in terms of turnover and are well aware that the very good winter business has contributed to this," says Managing Director Roman Barmettler, thus addressing the exceptionally strong winter.

Winter corrected the financial year

After a busy summer 2024 with many rainy days, the winter business developed extremely pleasingly. In November, Brunni-Bahnen AG already recorded an increase in first entries compared to the 5-year average of + 60%. "In November, we deliberately carried out a shortened and staggered operational revision in order to offer our guests an eventful offer even in late autumn," says Roman Barmettler. And the snowfall and the stable weather peak came just in time before the holidays. This gave the Brunni-Bahnen AG record values on the facilities and in the catering industry.

"The fact that we generate 14% of the annual turnover over Christmas and New Year illustrates our balanced business model throughout the year," explains Roman Barmettler. For once, the Klostermatte was at 1,000 m above sea level. M. open until the last day of operation. Sales on the lifts increased by +79% compared to the pre-winter. The adjacent restaurant OX increased its turnover by +50%, and this during an operating period of around three and a half months. With the success of the OX, the great demand in the Ristis and the new operation of the Brunnihütte, all catering establishments account for around 40% of the operating income of Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG, which used to be just under 30%. During the 310 operating days in the last financial year, almost 250,000 guests visited the Brunni area.

Year with important investments

"Thanks to the pleasant course of business, we were able to invest in the infrastructure and our buildings," says the managing director. With two further solar systems at the valley and mountain station, up to 30% of the annual own needs can be covered with solar energy in the future. The expansion of modern snowmaking systems ensures greater snow reliability - especially on the Brand slope, which is directly connected to the black Schonegg slope. At the same time, the technical snowmaking of the toboggan run was extended to the Hüttismatt, which significantly enhances the quality of the winter sports offer. Another milestone was the completion of the economy building in Yeti Park. There is a new kiosk with sled rental and a terrace with additional seating around the children's slide park. "All these diverse innovations sustainably strengthen our year-round offer," explains Roman Barmettler.

First year of operation of the Brunnihütte

In addition, the Brunnihütte became the property of Brunni-Bahnen AG at the end of October 2024. According to the managing director, they are very satisfied with the first year of operation: "We have succeeded in making the Brunnihütte a popular meeting place for locals and families. In general, we have exceeded our expectations.” Especially in summer, the Brunnihütte is a popular, inexpensive accommodation for families and couples. In the high season, the 40 beds were quickly booked out.
