Mantis Ropeway Technologies Develops New Product - Mantis Assistance
Two years ago, Mantis enabled the autonomous operation of chairlift top stations through computer vision with MANTIS AUTONOMY. Since then, there have been many requests for a similar solution to assist loading stations.
In close cooperation with customers and partners, MANTIS ASSISTANCE was developed. The intelligent camera system monitors the loading area at bottom stations and detects if passengers are not sitting properly on their seats. In critical situations, the system automatically triggers an emergency stop. This prevents accidents and supports the operating staff to reduce risks in good time.
Rather than the single view from the operator cabin, the Mantis systems include multiple cameras viewing the top station from all angles – catching incidents that otherwise might be occluded.
Monitoring passengers exiting a chairlift is a monotonous and repetitive task and even short distractions may lead to accidents. It is, however, perfectly fit for a computer, running continuously without ever losing focus.
Mantis algorithms evaluate the potential risks in a situation fifteen times per second. With its direct connection to the ropeway control system, Mantis can trigger an emergency stop faster than any human operator.
Every year, ski resorts have significant costs associated with replacing churned employees. Once the Mantis system is installed this is no longer an issue for some of your open positions.
The Mantis algorithms are developed specifically for the job and directly integrated into the lift. Less time is spent on annual training reducing another item in your profit and loss statement.
Cost of staff is one of the major cost drivers for any ski resort. Automating manual work with Mantis allows resorts to benefit from the unique strengths of human capital in the most effective way, while keeping operating cost low.
As usual, the system can be retrofitted to existing installations and integrated directly into the ropeway control system as part of AURO Assist.
