FIS Holds Meetings With Infront, EBU And Longines

It has been busy days in the lead-up to the FIS Technical Committee Meetings. FIS staff met with representatives from FIS rights holders Infront Sports & Media and the European Broadcasting Union, as well as with FIS Official Timing and Data Partner, Longines.

First up was a Jour Fixe at the Infront Headquarters in Zug (SUI) last week, where FIS and Infront reviewed the progress on the FIS digital strategy and upcoming initiatives for the new season.

The main goals for FIS’s digital activities are to connect to the FIS and National Ski Associations audiences better through personalised offers, campaigns and content, to explore new and authentic ways of storytelling including gamification, to create new opportunities and digital initiatives for FIS partners and the development of an integrated snowsports community that serves fans who follow, attend, watch, play and participate.

EBU Executive Director of Eurovision Sport and Head of Winter Sport, Robert Portmann, Glen Killane visited FIS President Gian Franco Kasper, Secretary General Sarah Lewis and Marketing Director Juerg Capol at the FIS Headquarters in Oberhofen to connect before the competition season during which they discuss contingency plans and rights situations.

The week concluded with a visit to the Longines Headquarters in St. Imier (SUI) where Lewis and Capol met the new Longines CEO, Matthias Breschan. In the meeting, the current challenges as well as new opportunities with digital initiatives including Esports, as well as Longines new campaign messaging Pioneer Spirit and its connection to the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup and World Championships.
