13 New Apprentices At Garaventa

Garaventa is committed to training young professionals and has welcomed 13 new apprentices to its Godau and Uetendorf locations. A total of 41 young people are currently completing their training at Garaventa, representing approximately 10 percent of the total workforce. The new apprenticeship position as an IT specialist (EFZ) in platform development in Goldau expands the range of apprenticeships.

Garaventa has been developing and building cable cars all over the world for almost 100 years. To ensure it can continue to realize challenging projects in the future, the company is committed to training its own young talent. "Training at Garaventa opens the door to an exciting industry with future prospects for young people. The fact that we are able to retain ten of our twelve graduates this year confirms the high value and quality of our training programs and is thanks in no small part to the dedication of our trainers," emphasizes CEO Arno Inauen.

New apprenticeship offer in computer science

Garaventa currently trains 41 apprentices at its Goldau and Uetendorf locations – approximately 10 percent of its total workforce. The prospective specialists are divided into six different professions: designer, polymechanic, cable car mechatronics engineer, plant and equipment engineer, business administrator, and, most recently, IT specialist specializing in platform development. In recent years, prospective IT specialists have been employed at Garaventa for one year as part of the bildxzug training network. For the first time, Garaventa is now providing the full four-year training program at its Goldau location. This is a further step toward building future-relevant skills in-house.

Introductory day at the start of training

This year, a joint information day in Goldau marked the start of the new apprentices' careers at Garaventa. After a company presentation by CEO Arno Inauen, they explored the Goldau factory on a tour of the various departments. Initial contacts were made over lunch, before the afternoon offered a practical insight into cable car technology with a visit to the Stoosbahn cable car.

Attractive prospects for the future

With practical training, modern workplaces, and diverse development opportunities, Garaventa offers young people a strong start to their careers. Those who join Garaventa will be working in an innovative industry with an exciting product, in keeping with the company's slogan: "Take the cable car – your way to the top. Hop on board!" Garaventa apprentices also benefit from a free annual pass for all Swiss cable cars, thanks to the partnership with Seilbahnen Schweiz.
