Whistler's Ski News For Winter 2018/2019

Vail Resorts will invest $66 million CAD (approx. £37.5 million) at Whistler Blackcomb that will include the first three-gondola connection in the world. The plan also represents the largest single-year capital investment program in the resort’s history. The investment will focus on three new lifts for winter 2018-2019, as well as several other lift infrastructure upgrades, providing quicker, easier access to all levels of terrain. Investment highlights include:

  • A new 10-passenger gondola on Blackcomb Mountain, replacing Wizard and Solar Coaster Chairlifts, terminating at the top of the mountain adjacent to the existing PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola.
  • A new six-passenger high-speed lift will replace the Family Ski Zone Emerald Express four-passenger chairlift on Whistler Mountain and on Blackcomb Mountain a four-passenger, high-speed chairlift will replace the Catskinner triple-passenger chairlift.

NEW - PANGEA POD HOTEL

Canada’s first-ever pod hotel, Pangea is a unique boutique accommodation option located in the heart of Whistler Village, designed for solo travellers seeking the privacy and comfort of a hotel and the affordability and social vibe of a hostel. Featuring 88 private pods that are both cosy and well-equipped, unique bathroom designs, secure storage for sporting equipment and welcoming communal areas for guests to socialise, including a bar and rooftop patio.

YEAR ROUND UMBRELLA BAR OPEN ON WHISTLER MOUNTAIN

A year-round attraction designed to provide the ultimate on-mountain viewing experience. Located in the front of the Roundhouse Lodge, guests can enjoy a drink and the unmatched view of the Coast Mountains under a giant umbrella. Lowered on sunny days to provide an outdoor lounge, it’s equally fun in the winter when glass panels and heaters protect one from the elements. Final build-out will include an extended wooden deck, finished for the Winter season this year.

FOUR SEASONS RESORT AND SPA WHISTLER’S SIDECUT

This winter enjoy S'mores by the Camper, featuring a series of warm beverages and s'more kits at the outdoor camper space and firepit following the successful summer launch of Cocktails by the Camper. SIDECUT will also be launching a Blackcomb Mountain Après that will feature food 'mountains' (towers) and Caesars in addition to their award winning cocktail program Spirit of the Mountains by celebrity mixologist Lauren Mote.
