Swiss Cable Cars Publishes Detailed 2024/25 Season Report

The 2024/25 season achieved a result in terms of skier-days that hadn't been achieved since the 2009/10 season. It even set a historic sales record. Despite the less than ideal snow conditions, with a lack of precipitation and high average temperatures, it was one of the very good seasons. Despite a trend toward rising prices, skiers ultimately benefited from the opportunities offered by the new pricing policy and paid less per ski day than in the previous season. The number of foreign guests continued to rise, even though some source markets, including traditional customer groups, were more cautious.
Some highlights of the season:
- A visitor record for 15 years – a level that has not been reached for a long time
- The weather conditions were relatively unseasonal, with unusually mild temperatures and little snow overall. Nevertheless, the season demonstrated the industry's resilience. The favorable conditions at the beginning of the season created positive momentum, supported by efficient infrastructure and well-functioning snow management.
- A nearly nationwide increase in numbers indicates a positive trend throughout the country. No region was left behind: all recorded positive trends, especially the traditionally more vulnerable areas.
- Renewed interest in low mountain regions, which benefited from temporarily very favorable conditions.
- Some of Switzerland's historic ski regions have reached levels of activity not seen for a long time, a sign of new vitality.
- A longer season than last year with more opening days than in previous winters.
- A strong upswing in foreign customers brought a record level in 10 years.
- A historic economic result: Transport revenue reached an all-time high, driven by increased demand and a well-coordinated tariff strategy.
