New Airline Powdair Officially Launches At Ellis Brigham, Announces Valais Resort Partnerships
Powdair , the new airline flying skiers and snowboarders into Sion Airport in the heart of the Swiss Alps, has announced a series of resort partners during its official launch day on September 6th, 2017 at its official UK retail partner, Ellis Brigham, Covent Garden.
Following a media launch at 9am attended by national and winter sports press, Swiss tourism representatives and friends of Powdair , BBC Ski Sunday and Red Bull presenter, Ed Leigh and speed ski champion, Jan Farrell, an open day to the public gave everyone the opportunity to find out more about the service Powdair is providing for passengers looking for a convenient and fast way to get to their favourite ski resorts this winter.
Speaking during the official launch of Powdair , Head of Commercial, Zoë Ombler, was delighted to announce Powdair ’s new resort partners and explained how they all bring a unique offer for winter sports enthusiasts looking for a variety of holidays in the resorts easily reached from Sion Airport, she said: “Not only do we want to make it easier to visit the Valais more frequently but also encourage more first-time visits from people who may never previously have considered Switzerland as a winter or summer destination. This might be because they don’t know about the region, its many resorts and the many activities they offer, or that the reputation of Switzerland being expensive has proved too much of a deterrent. By partnering with a variety of very different resorts, we hope to help those first-time visitors decide which resort might be the best fit for them, dependent on what kind of holiday experience they’re looking for and what budget they have to play with. Switzerland doesn’t have to be expensive or exclusive and we are delighted to be working in true partnership with our resorts to help dispel some of those myths!”
The six resort partners include, Verbier, Nendaz, Thyon 4 Vallées, Anzère, Crans Montana and the Portes du Soleil region which includes twelve linked resorts in Switzerland and France. In addition, the capital of Valais, Sion, is a city rich in medieval history surrounded by vineyards and in winter, snow-capped mountains – well worth a visit in itself.
Each resort partner has been awarded its own Powdair resort title to help the first-time visitor choose the right resort for their visit. All the resorts will benefit from their very own dedicated section within the new Powdair website when it launches next month and each resort will be working in partnership with Powdair to develop a range of exclusive benefits for Powdair passengers which will also be announced over the coming weeks.
BBC Ski Sunday Presenter, Ed Leigh, said: “Verbier is my home and now a service like Powdair has launched, it means transfer times are significantly cut, which is fantastic. The region has been crying out for this and now it’s happening we all need to get behind it. I’m looking forward to jumping on-board a Powdair flight at the start of the winter and it’s great to be involved in something that will be of huge benefit to the area and to skiers and snowboarders who want to reach the Valais quickly and without fuss”.
