Adventure World Kahlenberg Takes Over The Mariazeller Bürgeralpe

Hoch 4 Erlebniswelt Leopoldsberg Betriebs GmbH, the owner of the Kahlenberg Adventure World, a popular attraction far beyond Vienna's borders, will take over the Bürgeralpe in Mariazell in mid-November 2025. The Kahlenberg Adventure World, located on Vienna's local mountain and home to more than 200,000 visitors annually, is known for, among other things, the largest forest rope park in eastern Austria, the extensive 3D archery park, and the popular e-bike center.

With the takeover, the team around Managing Director Hannes-Mario Dejaco wants to further develop the Bürgeralpe into a year-round adventure mountain.

"We are excited about the resulting synergies and the new challenges. Plans for year-round operation are already being developed," says Dejaco.

The company's already embarked on a path from traditional winter tourism to a year-round experience will be massively strengthened and supplemented by attractive alternative offerings. A first step in this direction was already taken last year: the newly introduced illuminated tobogganing facility enjoyed great popularity. Now, further highlights are to follow, some as early as this winter, to reduce dependence on traditional skiing.

New attractions are also planned for the summer. The popular concerts on the lake stage will remain a permanent fixture in the program. The goal of the new owners is to further strengthen the Bürgeralpe as a vibrant center for leisure, sports, and culture.

"The Bürgeralpe and the entire Mariazell region are a jewel in Austria's Alpine landscape. We are delighted to be able to contribute to the positive development of the region in the future and to be a committed part of the community," emphasizes Dejaco.

Mariazell's mayor, Helmut Schweiger, is also pleased: "With the new owners, the Mariazell region is gaining experienced partners in tourism."

This takeover marks the beginning of a new chapter for Bürgeralpe – with fresh ideas, regional ties, and a clear commitment to sustainable year-round tourism.
