At the 28th International Almkäse Olympiad on September 24, 2022, over 100 dairy farmers from Germany, Austria, Italy, Liechtenstein and Switzerland will compete in the cheese and present their products to the Olympic cheese jury in Galtür. The coveted alpine dairyman's harps in gold, silver and bronze await the taste winners. What does the strict expert jury with "cheese experts" from industry, trade and education pay attention to? Outside, inside, taste and consistency of the cheese must harmonize perfectly. Only raw milk cheese loaves made from fresh alpine milk produced on a registered, managed alpine pasture are allowed in the competition. Anyone hoping to win the day should also get a taste bud from a blind tasting children's jury. Only then is the coveted Dreikäsehoch prize awarded for the golden dairyman's harp. Pleasure tip: You don't need to be a member of the jury to get samples on the day of the event - all the cheese delicacies shown can also be tasted and purchased by the public on site from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All information:www.galtuer.com .

28 years Almkäse Olympiad in Galtür

The International Almkäse Olympiad has been taking place in Galtür every year since 1995 and has now firmly established itself in the diaries of the Alpine dairymen. The goal of the founding fathers: to offer the dairy farmers in the Alpine region a lucrative opportunity to present their cheese to a wide audience and thus create new sales markets is as relevant today as it was then. The high sales figures for regional products and meanwhile 27 successful and well-attended Almkäse Olympiads prove that regionality is still a trend.
